Privacy Policy

PartSnap (“PartSnap,” “we,” “us”) helps you capture and organize products for home remodeling projects. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers both the PartSnap website and the PartSnap iOS app.

Information we collect

  • Account information & integrations. You can create an account with an email address and password, or sign in with Apple, Google, or Pinterest. From those sign-in providers we receive basic profile info like your name and email address. If you sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we only ever see Apple’s relay address. If you connect Pinterest, we also securely access your saved boards and pins to analyze your interior design style and personalize your recommendations.
  • Guest accounts. You can use PartSnap without creating an account. A guest account holds your projects but has no email address or password attached, so we hold no personal identifiers for it.
  • Mobile phone number. If you choose to use SMS, we store the mobile number you link to your account so we can send and receive text messages.
  • Content you save. Product URLs, extracted product details, projects, rooms, budgets, floor plan images you upload, and messages you send to the service.

The iOS app

The app uses a few device features. Each one is requested when you first use the feature, and you can decline or revoke it in iOS Settings without losing access to the rest of the app.

  • Camera. Used only to scan a product barcode or QR code. Scanning happens on your device and the camera never captures, stores, or uploads a photo — the only thing that leaves your phone is the decoded barcode number, which we look up to find the product page.
  • Photo library. Only when you attach a photo to a message yourself — to send the assistant a floor plan or a picture of a room. The photo you pick is uploaded to our storage and kept with that project so the assistant can read it and you can see it later. We never browse your library; the app only ever receives the one image you choose.
  • Microphone and speech recognition. Used only during voice mode, while a session is active. Your speech is converted to text by Apple’s speech recognition, which may process the audio on Apple’s servers under Apple’s privacy policy. We do not receive or store your audio recording; we receive the resulting text, handle it exactly like a typed message, and delete the temporary audio file from your device after each turn.
  • Notifications. If you allow notifications, we store a push token for your device so we can tell you when a product you saved has finished processing. It is used for that purpose only — we do not send marketing notifications.

The app does not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, or location data, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

How we use your information

  • To provide, operate, and improve the PartSnap service.
  • To extract and organize product information you save.
  • To answer the questions you ask our assistant, in chat, by voice, or over SMS. Your message and the relevant details of your project are sent to Google’s Gemini models on Vertex AI to produce the reply.
  • To send and respond to SMS messages you initiate, when you opt in.
  • To notify you when a product you saved has finished processing.
  • To secure your account and prevent abuse.

We do not use your content to train AI models. We use Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, under terms that do not permit your content to be used to train Google’s models.

SMS messaging

SMS is optional and opt-in. You opt in by linking your own mobile number to your PartSnap account. Messages are sent only in reply to texts you send us, so message frequency varies and is driven by your own activity. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help.

We do not sell or share your mobile phone number or SMS consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes. Mobile information is used solely to operate the SMS features of this service.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising or marketing purposes. We share it only with service providers that help us operate PartSnap, and only to the extent needed to provide the service: our hosting provider (Vercel), our database and file storage, Google Cloud (Vertex AI) for the assistant and product extraction, the services that fetch retailer product pages, Apple’s push notification service, and our SMS provider (Twilio). We may disclose information if required by law.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and everything in it at any time — in the iOS app under Settings → Delete account, or on the web under Account. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your projects, saved products, rooms, floor plans, and messages are removed, and it cannot be undone. You can also email us at the address below and we will do it for you.

Guest accounts that are never used to create a project are pruned automatically.

Your choices

  • Delete your account and all of its data, from inside the app or on the web.
  • Grant or revoke camera, microphone, speech recognition, and notification access at any time in iOS Settings.
  • Opt out of SMS at any time by replying STOP.
  • Unlink your mobile number from your account.
  • Request access to or correction of your data.

Children

PartSnap is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change to this policy, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
